Meg’s Mission For Mammograms

It all started when…

I have a lot to live for, my husband Trent and I have been married for 24 years and we have 3 beautiful children. In fact,  we just moved our oldest into her first dorm room in college. Watching her grow up has been one of my greatest joys. When I was diagnosed with breast cancer, through a routine mammogram,  at the young age of 41 it had a devastating impact on our family. I knew I wanted to be there for my children and my grandchildren.  After a biopsy followed by a lumpectomy, I made the tough decision with the help of my family and doctors to undergo a bilateral mastectomy.

During this time in my life, I would surf the internet and quickly discovered that there were countless other women fighting this terrible disease with me.  Some were not as lucky as me. I knew early detection was the key to my recovery. This was my moment, I thought this is it, I must do something. AND I wanted it to be something with real, tangible impact on women in my community.  I wanted to inspire hope and create better opportunities and outcomes for women who might not otherwise have them. So with the help of my family and friends, Meg’s mission for Mammograms was born.
